Is it tea?

No, no, no! Mate Libre is made from an infusion of yerba mate. It's true that yerba mate is often confused with tea, due to their similarity in preparation and consumption. Tea comes from the leaves of the camellia sinensis tree. The different teas - white, oolong, pu-erh (aged) and black - come from different periods and methods of leaf fermentation (drying). The yerba mate production process is also different from that of tea. The yerba mate leaves are dried and heated to retain their flavor and properties, without undergoing fermentation. The result is an infusion rich in antioxidants and health-giving nutrients, yet naturally stimulating.

Is it kumbucha?

Mate Libre is not a fermented product. No vinegar taste. Much more energizing than Kombucha! Kombucha is made from an infusion of tea and sometimes even yerba mate. Fermentation of the kombucha mushroom reduces the caffeine content of the infusion by around 70%. Lasting energy and refreshing taste!
